Defying the unknown
The benchmark among divers’ watches. A partner in forging new paths. An icon with a universal aura.
At its launch in 1953, the Oyster Perpetual Submariner was Rolex’s first divers’ wristwatch to be waterproof to 100 metres (330 feet). Now waterproof to 300 metres (1,000 feet), the Submariner and the Submariner Date, unveiled in 1969, have conquered new territories far beyond the underwater world.
Beyond the surface
Like those who venture boldly into the unknown of ocean depths, many have chosen the Submariner to immerse themselves in other worlds.
The ultimate divers’ watch
An iconic design, signature technical features and a legacy of constant innovation: the Submariner has become the timeless benchmark for divers’ watches.

Unidirectional rotatable bezel
This is our unidirectional rotatable bezel. All our diving watches are equipped with it. Its 60-minute graduation allows divers to measure their immersion time at a single glance before returning to the surface.
Perpetual Planet Initiative
The Perpetual Planet Initiative supports three major fields of action: ocean conservation, wilderness protection and the preservation of the living world.
Glidelock
This is our Rolex Glidelock extension system. Introduced in 2008 and patented, it enables some of our bracelets to be adjusted up to approximately 15 or 20 mm, notch by notch, without tools.
Mastering Waterproofness
Hans Wilsdorf, who began his career in 1900 working for a watch company in La Chaux-de-Fonds, observed how lifestyles were changing and particularly the rise in popularity of sports and outdoor pursuits.
The power of three
This is our Triplock winding crown. It is equipped with an innovative system we introduced in 1970 on the Sea-Dweller: a “triple lock” that creates three sealed zones.
