A spirit of freedom
A unique aesthetic. A tribute to the daring pioneers of airborne adventure. An invitation to embrace the spirit of adventure.
Immediately recognizable with its large 3, 6 and 9 hour markers, combined with a prominent minutes scale, the Oyster Perpetual Air-King embodies the ties Rolex has forged with the world of aviation since the 1930s.
It was in 1958 that the Air-King joined the Rolex watch family. Its name, displayed on its dial, was written in a distinctive italic typeface – an exception for Rolex. This signature – chosen at the time by Hans Wilsdorf himself – has remained unchanged ever since.
The Air-King has regularly benefited from technological and watchmaking innovations. In 2016, the Air-King was entirely redesigned. Its black dial with prominent minutes scale echoes certain historic watches made for aviation and offers optimal legibility, no matter the light conditions.

A testing protocol exclusive to Rolex is used to verify the efficiency of the Perpetual rotor’s automatic winding system.
The precision of a Rolex Superlative Chronometer watch is assessed twice.
This is our Oyster bracelet, with its unique and exceedingly robust three-piece links. It is the mark of foundational values and alliances found in all our work. Those of function and form, rigour and fluidity, comfort and elegance.
