The Presidents Cup

Launched in 1994 and modelled on The Ryder Cup, the Presidents Cup™ is a biennial competition that pits golfers from the United States against those from the rest of the world (except Europe). Each 12-man team is guided by their captain. During the 2005, 2007 and 2009 editions, this role was entrusted to Jack Nicklaus of the United States and South African Gary Player, both Rolex Testimonees. As captains, these legendary figures revived their great rivalry of the 1960s and 1970s. Rolex has been the Official Timekeeper of the Presidents Cup™ since 2005 and Worldwide Partner since 2007.

The Solheim Cup

The Solheim Cup
A transatlantic summit

The Solheim Cup is one of the most important events in women’s golf. Three days of intense competition, two teams of 12 golfers, each led by an experienced captain – the Solheim Cup pits Europe’s finest against their counterparts from the United States every two years. Launched by an industrialist couple from the USA whose name it bears, the Solheim Cup first took place in 1990 and was modelled on the men’s The Ryder Cup. Over the years, it has gained the support of the greatest players, who throughout the season aim to qualify for this unique competition.

The Solheim Cup is really growing to become one of the biggest events in women’s golf. I think it’s terrific for the game.

Annika Sorenstam

Several Rolex Testimonees have competed with high distinction in this competition. Annika Sörenstam helped Europe to glory as a player in 2000 and 2003, while fellow Swede Anna Nordqvist has been on the winning end four times (2011, 2013, 2019, 2021). In 2024, at her ninth consecutive appearance as a player, she reprised the role of vice-captain she first fulfilled the previous year; she will captain the team in 2026. Since 2013, American Lexi Thompson has contested every edition, seven in total, including three victories. Her fellow countrywoman Rose Zhang won her first Solheim Cup in 2024.

Rolex has been Official Timekeeper and Worldwide Partner of the event since 1994.
