In addition to these major victories, Langer has achieved outstanding success on the DP World Tour and the PGA TOUR® Champions, establishing himself as one of the most dominant players in senior golf.
Remarkable resilience
Born in Germany, Bernhard Langer began playing golf at a young age and his prodigious talent enabled him to quickly rise through the ranks.
Turning professional in 1972, he became one of the first German golfers to achieve international success. Langer’s career highlights include his two Masters victories, 42 wins on the DP World Tour and a dominant presence on the PGA TOUR® Champions, where he has claimed close to 50 titles, including a record 12 senior major championships. In 1986, Langer became the first player to top the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR), a testament to his consistency. Beyond his individual success, he played in 10 editions of The Ryder Cup and captained the European team to victory in 2004.
Even in his 60s, Langer continues to leave his mark on the game. He has topped the PGA TOUR® Champions Money List on 10 occasions and claimed the Charles Schwab Cup, the season-long points race, six times. He is forever extending his own mark as the oldest winner in PGA TOUR® Champions history. He triumphed at the 2024 season-ending Charles Schwab Cup Championship at the age of 67 years, two months and 14 days.
Langer’s achievements were further recognized with his induction into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2002. He continues to have an impact beyond his personal achievements, serving as a mentor to younger German golfers and inspiring many with his longevity and consistent performance.
