Wearing a Rolex watch, in the three months from November 2005 to February 2006, the Norwegian adventurer completed ‘The Longest March’, a 4,800-kilometre (3,000 miles) solo ski trek across the South Pole. He now holds the records for the longest ski journey of any kind without resupply and the longest ski journey of all time.
Of his watch, an Explorer II, he said: “My Rolex is my ‘best friend’ on expeditions. It’s essential to have a precise and robust mechanical watch. I do trust my Rolex and it makes me feel safe knowing I can rely on it in the most difficult conditions.”
