Grael has made history as the first female helm in the Rolex SailGP Championship, leading the Brazil team competing in Season 5 of the world’s leading sailing series.

Born in Brazil, Martine Grael was destined for sailing greatness.
Coming from a family of renowned sailors, she had her passion for sailing nurtured from an early age. She began competing at age 10 and quickly rose through the ranks. Partnering with Kahena Kunze in the 49er FX class, Grael achieved international success. The pair received the title of Rolex World Sailor of the Year in 2014 and went on to win gold medals at the Rio and Tokyo Olympic Games. These historic back-to-back victories cemented their status as one of the greatest sailing duos in the sport’s history. Grael’s achievements extend beyond the Olympic arena and include world championship titles in 2014 and 2022, and numerous victories in World Cup series events. Known for her tactical brilliance, adaptability in varying conditions and mental toughness, Grael has showcased her versatility by also competing in major offshore events, including the Volvo Ocean Race.
