Isabell Werth’s journey began in her native Germany, where she developed a passion for horses and riding at a young age.
Initially focused on show jumping and eventing, she transitioned to dressage at 17, setting the stage for an unparalleled career. Under the guidance of top trainers, she rose through the ranks with victories in both national and international competitions.
Werth’s career highlights include her dominance at the FEI World Equestrian Games™, where, in a period spanning more than 20 years, she won multiple gold medals in both individual and team categories. Her achievements are further distinguished by 21 European Championship titles and five FEI Dressage World Cup™ victories, an unrivaled record in dressage. She has also found success when representing Germany at seven Olympic Games, winning team and individual medals at each – eight of them gold.
Central to her success are her partnerships with legendary horses such as Gigolo, Weihegold Old and, more recently, her new star Wendy de Fontaine, each playing a pivotal role in her towering achievements.
Her influence extends well beyond her competitive accomplishments as she continues to mentor young riders, sharing her wealth of knowledge and passion for the sport.
Werth’s contributions to equestrianism were recognized when she was honoured with Germany’s prestigious Silver Laurel Leaf award in 2024.
