Lindsey Vonn’s journey in skiing began in Minnesota, where she developed her skills from a young age.

With more than 80 World Cup victories to her name, for years she held the record for the most wins by a female skier. Her prowess extended across all alpine disciplines, making her one of only six women to win World Cup races in all five events – downhill, super-G, giant slalom, slalom, and super combined. Vonn’s Olympic achievements include a gold medal in downhill at the 2010 Vancouver Games – a first for an American woman – and bronze medals in 2010 and 2018. Her dominance in speed events is particularly noteworthy, with a record eight World Cup season titles in downhill and five in super-G. Vonn’s four FIS World Cup overall Crystal Globes (2008, 2009, 2010 and 2012) place her among the most successful skiers in history.

Vonn’s resilience in the face of numerous injuries throughout her career has been inspirational. Having retired from competition in 2019, she made a comeback nearly six years later, returning to the place where she feels most at home – the top of the mountain. She resumed competing in the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup in December 2024, quickly recording top-six finishes in downhill and super-G races before securing her first podium in seven years with a second place at the super-G season finals the following March. In December 2025, she made history at St Moritz as the oldest World Cup downhill winner, claiming her 83rd victory at age 41.

Vonn’s influence extends beyond her competitive achievements, as she continues to inspire the next generation of winter athletes.

Lindsey Vonn became a Rolex Testimonee in 2009.
