From standout amateur to major champion
Matt Fitzpatrick’s golf journey began in Sheffield, England, where his talent emerged at a young age.
His early career was marked by standout achievements, including victory in the 2013 U.S. Amateur Championship at The Country Club in Brookline, Massachusetts, where Fitzpatrick would later make history by claiming his first major championship, the 2022 U.S. Open. This remarkable full-circle moment cemented his place among the sport’s elite. He also earned the Silver Medal as the low amateur at The Open in 2013, showcasing his potential on the global stage.
After turning professional in 2014, Fitzpatrick quickly made an impact, securing his first win at the 2015 British Masters. In the following years, he added a further seven DP World Tour victories, including DP World Tour Championship titles in 2016 and 2020. Fitzpatrick’s success carried over to the PGA TOUR®, where his precision and determination led to his U.S. Open triumph and 2023 victory at the RBC Heritage. Fitzpatrick has also represented Europe at three editions of The Ryder Cup, in 2016, 2021 and 2023, contributing to one of golf’s most iconic team events. In 2023, he captured the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, continuing his impressive run of form and further solidifying his reputation as one of the game’s top competitors.
Fitzpatrick’s consistent performances have resulted in him placing near the top of the Official World Golf Ranking for many weeks.
