His rise from the Asian Tour to representing India at the highest levels of the game – including on the PGA TOUR® and at two Olympic Games – has confirmed his status as one of his country’s most successful golfers.
Major contender
Anirban Lahiri’s started playing golf as a young boy in his native India.
His career took off on the Asian Tour, where he won seven titles, showcasing his all-round prowess and consistency. His 2015 victories at the Hero Indian Open and the Maybank Malaysian Open raised his profile internationally and marked a turning point, earning him a place on the PGA TOUR® while also positioning him as one of Asia’s top golfers.
Lahiri’s performances in major championships have also been noteworthy, with strong showings at The Open and the PGA Championship, where he became the first Indian golfer to finish in the top five. Notably, he became only the third player from his country to compete at the Masters Tournament.
Lahiri represented India at both the Rio and Tokyo Olympic Games as well as at the World Cup of Golf. He also played for the International Team at the Presidents Cup™ in 2015 and 2017.
