Carlos Alcaraz
Youngest World No. 1
Carlos Alcaraz has captured the attention of the tennis world with his remarkable talent, skill set and determination.
Known for his powerful baseline play, the Spaniard became the youngest World No. 1 in the men’s game after winning his first Grand Slam® singles title at the 2022 US Open.
Rapid rise to glory
Carlos Alcaraz’s tennis journey started in his native Spain, where he trained under the guidance of former World No. 1, Juan Carlos Ferrero.
His rise was swift, with notable performances in junior tournaments paving the way for his professional debut in 2018 at the age of 15. In 2021, Alcaraz claimed his first Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) title at the Croatia Open, signalling his arrival on the big stage. He continued to impress with a deep run at that year’s US Open, becoming the youngest player in the professional era to reach the quarter-finals.
The following year, Alcaraz’s career soared to new heights. He won his first Masters 1000 title at the Miami Open in March – becoming the third youngest ATP Masters 1000 champion – and added another such title on home soil at the Madrid Open weeks later. In September, Alcaraz won the US Open to claim his maiden Grand Slam® singles title and in the process become the youngest World No. 1 in PIF ATP Rankings history at the age of 19 years, 4 months and 6 days.
Alcaraz has since added to his tally, winning The Championships, Wimbledon in 2023 and 2024, and taking victory at Roland-Garros in 2024. His triumph in the French capital made him, at 21, the youngest men’s tennis player in the professional era to win a Grand Slam® singles title on all three playing surfaces: hard court, grass and clay.
Carlos Alcaraz became a Rolex Testimonee in 2022.
