Victoria Mboko

Poise and power on court

Having risen through the junior ranks and impressed on the WTA Tour, Victoria Mboko is among the most promising young talents in women’s tennis.

Victoria Mboko playing

An impressive ascent

Ranked 333rd in the world at the start of 2025, Victoria Mboko went on a dazzling run to finish the year as one of only two teenagers inside the WTA Rankings’ top 20. With mighty baseline strokes, aggressive court coverage and strategic shot-making, she claimed a maiden WTA singles title at the Canadian Open at just 18 years of age and offered a glimpse of the bright future ahead of her.

Gaining ground and maturity

Born in 2006 in Charlotte, North Carolina, and raised in Toronto, Canada, Mboko began playing at age five. A product of the ACE Tennis Academy and later of Tennis Canada’s national programme, she trained at the National Training Centre in Montreal, where her skill, focus and maturity stood out. Mboko’s junior career included Grand Slam® singles semi-final appearances in 2022 at The Championships, Wimbledon, and the US Open. She made an immediate impact in the professional ranks, capturing multiple ITF titles and piecing together a 22-match winning streak without dropping a set, a Canadian women’s record.

Mboko’s key breakthrough came in August 2025 when she won her first high-status WTA 1000 title at the National Bank (Canadian) Open in Montreal. Playing in a tournament she attended as a child, she went on a fairy-tale run, defeating four Grand Slam® champions. She added another title at the Hong Kong Tennis Open and finished the year ranked a then career-high No. 18, earning the WTA’s Newcomer of the Year award. She began 2026 by picking up where she left off, reaching the final of the Adelaide International, a WTA 500 event, to rise to World No. 16 and offer further evidence of a talent equipped to compete at the elite level for years to come.

Of Congolese descent, Mboko is proud of her heritage and emphasizes the importance of visibility and representation in sport. Her journey to professional success reflects her discipline, resilience and ambition, serving as an inspiration to the next generation of athletes.

Victoria Mboko became a Rolex Testimonee in 2026.
