TIFF Tribute Awards
Spotlight on excellence in film
Held during the Toronto International Film Festival, the TIFF Tribute Awards are both a celebration of individual achievement and a reflection of the festival’s inclusive, international outlook.
Changing perspectives through film
Launched in 2019 as part of the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), the Tribute Awards are one of the most anticipated honours of the film season. Held each September at the iconic Fairmont Royal York Hotel, the awards gala champions TIFF’s core mission to transform the way people see the world through film. In 2025, Rolex became the exclusive Presenting Partner of the TIFF Tribute Awards.
Honouring artists shaping cinema
The Tribute Awards annual gala and fundraiser supports the festival’s year-round initiatives and serves as a key moment in the cultural calendar. The event honours the outstanding contributions and achievements of leading industry members, actors, directors, new talent, and film artists of all kinds. Past honourees include Brendan Fraser, Angelina Jolie, Spike Lee, Cate Blanchett and Amy Adams.
Marking a highlight of the festival’s opening week, the awards recognize both established icons and rising talents, including categories such as the TIFF Ebert Director Award, the TIFF Share Her Journey Groundbreaker Award and the TIFF Jeff Skoll Award in Impact Media.
Alongside the honours, the evening features curated tributes, conversations and premieres that set the tone for TIFF’s broader programming. The gala also supports programmes that promote inclusion and access in filmmaking. Rolex aligns with its longstanding support for the cinematic arts and its recognition of those whose work shapes the medium.
