Priyanka is an award-winning actor and producer whose work bridges the Indian film industry and Hollywood.
Crowned Miss World in 2000, she went on to receive two National Film Awards, including for her performance in Fashion (2008), before making history as the first South Asian woman to headline an American network drama (2015). This marked a turning point, not just for her, but for how global talent could lead mainstream US television.
Alongside her work onscreen, she has also built a strong presence as a producer, using her platform to bring new and diverse stories into the spotlight.
A career across continents
Priyanka has built a substantial body of work, balancing commercial success with critically acclaimed performances, establishing herself as a multi-hyphenate talent through roles that reflect both versatility and a deep commitment to her craft.
Her recent work includes Netflix’s Oscar-nominated The White Tiger (2021), which she also produced, as well as large-scale releases like Heads of State (2025) and The Bluff (2026). She both led and produced The Bluff, which debuted at number one globally on Prime Video. Heads of State became one of the platform’s most-watched films, reaching more than 75 million viewers worldwide.
Through her production company, Purple Pebble Pictures, Priyanka focuses on backing stories that broaden the scope of mainstream storytelling while maintaining mainstream appeal. Recent projects include the documentary Born Hungry, which premiered in theatres and on Prime Video in April 2025, as well as executive producing the Oscar-nominated short Anuja and the acclaimed, Oscar-nominated documentary To Kill A Tiger.
She has been named one of the world’s most influential people by Time magazine, reflecting both her cultural impact and global reach.
Advocacy and impact
In parallel with her work in entertainment, Priyanka has maintained a long-standing commitment to humanitarian efforts.
She has worked with UNICEF for more than 15 years, first as a National Ambassador in India (2010) and later as a Goodwill Ambassador (2016). Her advocacy focuses on education, child rights, and gender equality, with a particular emphasis on expanding access to education for girls in underserved communities.
Her contributions have been recognized with the Padma Shri, one of India’s highest civilian honours, acknowledging both her artistic achievements and broader societal impact.
