From the Italian Open to Ryder Cup hero
Francesco Molinari’s golf journey began in Italy, where he developed his skills alongside his brother, Edoardo.
Turning professional in 2004, Molinari quickly made a name for himself on the DP World Tour, securing his first victory at the 2006 Italian Open. In 2009, he and his brother led Italy to its first World Cup victory in China, marking a historic milestone for Italian golf. Molinari’s success on the global stage continued with his triumph at the WGC-HSBC Champions in 2010, adding a prestigious World Golf Championship title to his resume.
Molinari’s career took a significant leap in 2018 with his performance at The Ryder Cup, where he played a pivotal role in Europe’s victory, becoming the continent’s first player to win all five of his matches. That same year, he claimed his first Rolex Series victory at the BMW PGA Championship, the DP World Tour’s flagship event, and reached a career-high ranking of sixth in the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) following his triumph at The Open. His victory at the 2019 Arnold Palmer Invitational further cemented his status as one of the leading talents in global golf.
