Inspired by our watches, which are designed to last, we are committed to the long term for future generations. We are involved in two main areas: the Perpetual Planet Initiative, which supports projects dedicated to science and the environment, and the Perpetual Arts Initiative, which reflects our commitment to art and culture.
Exploration is one of the driving forces behind progress. It helps accelerate the advancement of knowledge and enables us to make faster progress in protecting nature and its resources. To sustain this momentum, we have been working for several decades to support programmes dedicated to the preservation of wildlife, the conservation of the oceans and the protection of wild spaces.
Since 1976, the Rolex Awards for Enterprise have also been recognizing the work of scientists, explorers and innovators whose projects help improve living conditions on Earth and push the boundaries of knowledge. To date, 165 Laureates have been honoured.
As the institution approached its 50th anniversary in 2025, it then evolved. Now known as the Rolex Awards and part of the Perpetual Planet Initiative, it retains the spirit of the original recognition while placing an emphasis on solid initiatives relating to the environment, both on land and at sea, as well as science, technology and health.
For over half a century, we have been promoting the arts by supporting artists, institutions and major cultural projects. Through this commitment, we celebrate excellence and help preserve universal artistic heritage from generation to generation in the fields of architecture, the visual arts, film, dance, literature, music and theatre.
