Gary Jobson began his sailing career at a young age, quickly establishing himself as a skilled competitor.
He came to prominence as the tactician for Ted Turner’s victorious 1977 America’s Cup campaign, a pivotal moment that secured his reputation in the sailing world. Beyond competition, Jobson has become a respected commentator, contributing to more than 1,200 films and television programmes, winning two Emmys, and author of 23 books on sailing. His role as a journalist and editor-in-chief of leading magazines has further amplified his impact on the sport. Additionally, Jobson served as a vice-president of World Sailing, the international sailing federation, showcasing his leadership abilities and commitment to the sport’s development. His contributions to the sport have been recognized with numerous awards, including induction into the America’s Cup Hall of Fame.
