Distinguished versatility
Bertram Allen’s journey in equestrianism began in Ireland, where he cultivated a passion for horses from a young age.
Growing up in an equestrian family, he quickly distinguished himself on the national and international stages, claiming individual and team medals at the European Junior Championships from 2010 to 2013. Under the guidance of his family and trainers, Allen began competing in Grand Prix events at just 17 years of age and was ranked fifth in the FEI World Rankings as an 18-year-old.
Known for his exceptional partnership with his horses, particularly Molly Malone V, Allen’s career trajectory continued upwards with top placements in CSI5* events worldwide. With his trusted mare, he won the CSIO5* Grand Prix of Ireland in 2014 and both the Rolex Grand Prix de Dinard and the CSIO5* Rolex Grand Prix Ville de la Baule the following year, while also finishing seventh at the 2014 World Equestrian Games™ and third at the 2015 FEI Jumping World Cup™ Final.
In more recent years, Allen has represented Ireland at the Tokyo Olympic Games, and at the 2023 edition of the CSIO Spruce Meadows ‘Masters’ Tournament, finished third in the CPKC ‘International’ Grand Prix presented by Rolex and claimed victory in the BMO Nations Cup.
Allen’s versatility is evident in his skill across both speed classes and Grand Prix events, while his close connections with his horses, including GK Casper and Pacino Amiro, have defined his unique approach to the sport.
