Shining light of Mexican golf
A native of Guadalajara, Mexico, Carlos Ortiz honed his skills playing collegiate golf at the University of North Texas, where he distinguished himself as a top competitor.
Turning professional in 2013, he found success the following year by winning three titles on the Korn Ferry Tour – and being voted the tour’s player of the year – to secure his PGA TOUR® card for the 2015 season.
Ortiz’s most significant milestone came in 2020 when his victory at the Houston Open made him the first Mexican player to win a PGA TOUR® event in more than four decades. In 2024, he won the International Series Oman on the Asian Tour and the LIV Golf Houston event to cement his status as a player who can find success on tours all around the world.
Beyond his individual success, Ortiz has represented Mexico in international competitions, including the Olympic Games, showcasing his national pride and commitment to the sport.
