To protect the movement from water and dust, Rolex invented the Oyster case in 1926. And then, in 1953, created and patented the Twinlock winding crown to ensure further protection for professional divers. Rolex increased guarantee of waterproofness for the diving watches by introducing the Triplock winding crown in 1970.
